{"id":2859,"date":"2017-05-08T19:04:50","date_gmt":"2017-05-09T02:04:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/?p=2859"},"modified":"2017-05-08T19:04:50","modified_gmt":"2017-05-09T02:04:50","slug":"im-sure-that-weve-driven-over-six-orbits-of-the-earth-on-ev-power-alone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/activee\/im-sure-that-weve-driven-over-six-orbits-of-the-earth-on-ev-power-alone\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m sure that we&#8217;ve driven over six orbits of the Earth on EV power alone!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, I noticed that my wife&#8217;s Roadster reached 24,000 total miles on the odometer on May 4.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_20170504_150433\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8245538@N06\/34328004761\/in\/datetaken\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/5\/4160\/34328004761_852f9038e4_c.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20170504_150433\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>A few days later, on May 7, we reached\u00a075,000 total miles on the Model S Odometer as well.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_20170507_181802\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8245538@N06\/33679124694\/stats\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/5\/4156\/33679124694_d02eb997b1_c.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20170507_181802\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>My wife is the second owner of her Roadster and it had 2,200 miles when we picked it up and the Model S had 22 miles on the odometer. \u00a0In the three years and eight months of Tesla ownership, it was a bit of a shock when I realized this morning that the total of these two mileages was 99,000 and that we were very close to having a 100,000 Tesla miles on our own vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Considering that we turned in the Active E with 54,321 miles on the odometer in February 2014 after two years. That means that\u00a0our total EV mileage driven on vehicles that we&#8217;ve owned or leased now totals greater than 150,000 miles on electricity. \u00a0As impressive as this is, it is even more interesting to note that our actual totals are much greater than this.<\/p>\n<p>During periods when we&#8217;ve had our cars in for service, I&#8217;ve been tracking our EV vs ICE miles and we&#8217;ve done about 80,000 miles on loaners and rental EVs. \u00a0So, our actual total is about 235,000 miles of electric driving. \u00a0In the meantime, we&#8217;ve done about 24,000 miles of ICE driving on our 2001 BMW X5 (both our driving, and when we lend the car out to visitors) as well as the times that we&#8217;ve rented ICE cars when we travel.<\/p>\n<p>When I reached 74,000 miles of the Model S earlier in April,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brian_henderson\">@Brian_Henderson<\/a> (FYI: 75k is 3 orbits of Earth &#x1f30f; driving pole over pole. \u26a1&#x1f698;&#x1f603;)\u00a0reminded me that a circumnavigation of the Earth is approximately 25,000 miles and this is also cool to hing that all the vehicles that we&#8217;ve owned or leased means that we&#8217;ve travelled 6 orbits of the Earth. \u00a0So, that&#8217;s cool.<\/p>\n<p>So, are we going to reach 75,000 miles on the Model S this month? \u00a0I&#8217;m pretty sure that we&#8217;ll get there before the end of this month. \u00a0If not on our beginning of June trip.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, I noticed that my wife&#8217;s Roadster reached 24,000 total miles on the odometer on May 4.
