This is the thirteenth day\u00a0in a series of posts written about our\u00a02016 EV Roadtrip\u00a0written in the same manner as our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/2015\/05\/roadtripping-the-u-s-a-day-01\/\">2015 trip. \u00a0Here, There, and EVerywhere Trip &#8211; Day 01<\/a>, i.e. summaries written for each day of the trip, published each day, this time\u00a0<\/em><em>two months\u00a0from the day of the trip.\u00a0It may seem funny to some to have a summer trip published at the start of the Fall, think of it as some daily entertainment for those that are back in their offices thinking about their past summer trips that could have been or thinking about their next trip.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Missed the previous day&#8217;s post, <a href=\"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/2016\/09\/the-long-way-round-day-13\/\">click here to read Day 13\u00a0of this trip<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Looking for the start of the trip, <a href=\"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/2016\/09\/the-long-way-round-day-01\/\">click here to read Day 1 of this trip<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>The Long Way Round &#8211; Summary and Lessons<\/b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Many readers know that we took the\u00a0long way round because we\u00a0got four referrals on the Fourth Tesla Referral Program (May 30, 2016 to July 15, 2016) and we expected to get an invite to the Gigafactory Party. \u00a0Rather than just go from Southern California to Reno,\u00a0we wanted to combine that trip with a trip to the\u00a0the Pacific Northwest (about a 1600 mile detour) and\u00a0attend\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/evroadmapconference.com\/\">EV Roadmap 9\u00a0Conference<\/a> in Portland, visit\u00a0family who was attending camp\u00a0in Seattle, WA and visit family living in\u00a0Vancouver, BC before turning back for the party.<\/p>\n<p>So how did this trip look on the map?<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Recap_Road Trip Full Map LB to LB (Pacific NW)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8245538@N06\/29869893816\/in\/datetaken\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/9\/8323\/29869893816_c06ec4a19f_c.jpg\" alt=\"Recap_Road Trip Full Map LB to LB (Pacific NW)\" width=\"588\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>It looks like we went pretty far to go someplace a lot closer. That&#8217;s the &#8220;fun&#8221; of driving a Tesla powered EV. The Tesla Supercharger network enables travelers to go, wherever they want to go.<\/p>\n<p>So, how did we do? \u00a0Well, as is the goal for any long road trip. \u00a0We arrived home still happily married. \u00a0So, that&#8217;s always Goal #1.<\/p>\n<p>After 13 Days on the road, we&#8217;ve made it to all our intermediate goals on this trip.<\/p>\n<p>1) We made it to Portland and attended <a href=\"http:\/\/evroadmapconference.com\/\">EV Roadmap 9 Conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even got to ride the BYD e6 and write a quick review of it.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_20160720_142326\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8245538@N06\/28361151111\/in\/datetaken\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>2) We made it to Seattle and had spent a day with our niece as she spent time away from home in a camp.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_2129\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8245538@N06\/28506211325\/in\/datetaken\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>3) We visited our relatives in Vancouver and got to hang out with them.<\/p>\n<p>Had great dinner at Ask for Luigi.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_20160724_202119\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>and the Tomato Truck<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_20160718_161447\" set.<\/p>\n<p>AND<\/p>\n<p>2) We looked at the \u201clogging industry\u201d life-cycle&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Starting with those darn bald spots in the mountains&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_2447\" food recommendations from a Chef. \u00a0The restaurants that we experienced from the recommendations were superb.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_20160721_204758\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8245538@N06\/28432969286\/in\/datetaken\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c7.staticflickr.com\/9\/8730\/28432969286_abbb08d578_c.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160721_204758\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_2049\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8245538@N06\/28486378915\/in\/datetaken\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c4.staticflickr.com\/9\/8051\/28486378915_918d71a194_c.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2049\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>1A) It&#8217;s also good to listen to locals for their recommendations for such things. \u00a0We enjoyed the Dutch Bros. coffee and didn&#8217;t know about them before we were introduced (especially the Iced Caramelizer.)<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_20160719_144732\" src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Untitled\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8245538@N06\/28561700836\/in\/datetaken\/\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>1B) This one is not always reliable, but give it a try anyway, our sushi in Vancouver area this trip was\u00a0good, but not spectacular. \u00a0Considering the spectacular Dim Sum we had at brunch, we&#8217;d forgive this.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_20160725_210055\" from when you assume to cross the border.
