{"id":158,"date":"2012-05-10T12:01:13","date_gmt":"2012-05-10T19:01:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/?p=158"},"modified":"2012-05-10T12:01:13","modified_gmt":"2012-05-10T19:01:13","slug":"inane-disclaimers-on-cars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/activee\/inane-disclaimers-on-cars\/","title":{"rendered":"Inane disclaimers on cars&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\n  (function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){\n  (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),\n  m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)\n  })(window,document,'script','\/\/www.google-analytics.com\/analytics.js','ga');<\/p>\n<p>  ga('create', 'UA-49483645-1', 'pascual.co');\n  ga('send', 'pageview');<\/p>\n<p><\/script><br \/>\n<a title=\"IMG_0725 by dennis_p, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8245538@N06\/7129489049\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8019\/7129489049_ffb0be67f6.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0725\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, I was a little bored and thought to look at some of the things around my ActiveE, and I started reading this disclaimer sticker on the front windshield of my car.<\/p>\n<p>I am especially infuriated by &#8220;&#8230;telephones (including operation of any portable cellular phone from within the vehicle without using an externally mounted antenna) &#8230; may cause extensive damage to the vehicle, compromise its safety, interfere with the vehicle&#8217;s electrical system or affect the validity of the BMW Limited Warranty.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Talk about your inane disclaimers.<\/p>\n<p>My cell phone, which works with the Bluetooth system so much so that I can access <a title=\"BMW ActiveE features \u2013 MAP access and Text to Voice Email\" href=\"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/2012\/04\/bmw-activee-features-map-access-and-text-to-voice-email\/\">MAP messages on it<\/a>\u00a0could invalidate the warranty because it does not have an &#8220;externally mounted antenna&#8221;. \u00a0Last I looked, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 was too new and not on the &#8220;approved&#8221; list. \u00a0This is one of the most senseless disclaimers around. \u00a0It ranks up there with the caution of a hot beverage that one gets with a disposable cup (yes, I said disposable and no, even for the 10 cents saved at Starbucks, I do not reuse my coffee cups. ONCE AGAIN, it&#8217;s <strong>ACCIDENTALLY ENVIRONMENTAL<\/strong>\u00a0and 10 cents a cup wasn&#8217;t enough to move the needle with me on this issue.)<\/p>\n<p>So, yes, my fun car may handle like a dream, but it too has some stupid things attached to it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, I was a little bored and thought to look at some of the things around my ActiveE, and I started reading this disclaimer sticker on the front windshield of my car.
