I&#8217;m a capitalist. This darn BMW Active E has made me Accidentally Environmental!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes. The picture is of me AT the recycling center.<\/li>\n<li>Yes. The car IS all electric&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let me explain why I am Accidentally Environmental.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I get my money back for recycling my soda cans and water bottles. If I didn&#8217;t&#8230; I wouldn&#8217;t. Additionally, the recycling center is around the corner from home, so it&#8217;s relatively convenient to get my money back. <em>Side note: \u00a0If you&#8217;re a Costco member, you can ALSO return your recyclables at the Costco return center to get your money back.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The electric car is because\n<ol>\n<li>It&#8217;s cool \u00a0<strong>AND<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>I can get on the carpool lane by myself and the Leaf and Volt were unattractive to me.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>[Update August 2012] Yes, I have a solar array on my roof courtesy of Real Goods Solar and BMW. \u00a0This is because it SAVES me money. \u00a0<a title=\"More Napkin math, OR \u2013 Real Goods Solar and BMW\u2019s program is a REAL GOOD deal!\" href=\"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/2012\/09\/more-napkin-math-or-real-goods-solar-and-bmws-program-is-a-real-good-deal\/\">Details here<\/a>\u00a0and <a title=\"Real Goods Solar installation\" href=\"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/2012\/10\/real-goods-solar-installation\/\">pictures here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>[Update March 2013] After over a <a title=\"One Year of EV Driving\u2026 Pure Joy\u2026 The ActiveE and me!\" href=\"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/2013\/02\/one-year-of-ev-driving-pure-joy-the-activee-and-me\/\">year of driving electric<\/a>&#8230; \u00a0I&#8217;ve turned into an EVangelist and want everyone to join the rEVolution! \u00a0EVs are fun to drive, regardless of the make. \u00a0The instant torque is exhilarating. \u00a0Saving money is awesome too.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Lastly, I find that the hours I spend at public charging stations has increased the time I spend at various locations, so I will be writing about my other passions, namely <a title=\"Charge It! \u2013 Great food near public chargers #1 in an ongoing series\" href=\"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/2012\/05\/charge-it-great-food-near-public-chargers-1-in-an-ongoing-series\/\">great food<\/a> (sometimes just good food) and <a title=\"THE Sports and Entertainment Capital of the World \u2013 Staples Center and L.A. Live!\" href=\"http:\/\/pascual.co\/ActiveE\/2012\/05\/the-sports-and-entertainment-capital-of-the-world-staples-center-and-l-a-live\/\">sports<\/a> as it relates to my EV experience on this blog as well, so be forewarned. \u00a0The amount of walking that I&#8217;ve done since I&#8217;ve been driving my ActiveE has definitely increased and I&#8217;ve even lost a few pounds since the charger closest to my office is 3\/4 of a mile away, so I feel very justified in eating well. \ud83d\ude09 [Update September 7, 2012 &#8211; I&#8217;ve gained the few pounds back AND a few more since I started my Charge It!
